2008-2009 Administration of Harris Survey

Gathering input from stakeholders is in itself an important activity that can help engender support for the mission of our district.  A survey project is an important way for students, teachers and staff members, and parents to provide their views to those responsible for managing the district and the individual schools.

Customer satisfaction is a district core value.  Our balanced scorecard has several measures related to stakeholder satisfaction and it is hoped that schools and departments will be able to use stakeholder satisfaction data to make improvements to realize increased stakeholder satisfaction over time.

The Harris Interactive School Poll will be used to survey students, parents, and employees and will be administered every other year.  This research system will provide perceptual data from multiple stakeholder perspectives and an assessment of the workplace culture. More importantly, it will provide clear direction for school and district improvement.  Harris Interactive has implemented this research in hundreds of school districts across the nation.  This system is grounded in sound academic theories of customer motivation and satisfaction.  The system has been thoroughly tested and has proved to be an effective management tool for educational leaders.

Harris Interactive’s philosophy is that stakeholder measurement systems have three important goals:

1)      To provide measures that indicate how well the district is delivering its service to the various stakeholder groups.

2)      Perhaps most importantly, to identify specific actions the district can take to improve the satisfaction levels of its stakeholders.

3)      To provide benchmarks on which to evaluate actions the district takes
